Monash FODMAP Diet App Recensioni

Easy to use

Great app supporting amazing research. Wish the diary was more integrated (or maybe I’m not using it to its capacity). Reports & linking food to symptoms would be great. App would be perfect if it had a scanner. I would rather have a scanner with a note it may not be perfect, than no scanner at all. I’ve purchased 2 other apps that have cost $80 total to fill that void: Fig & Spoonful

Not comprehensive

Half the things I look up are not on here.

Crashes after last update

I love this app in general, but it crashes every time I try to save a new entry to the food diary. It just started happening today, so I think something went wrong with the latest update. Please fix ASAP. Thanks!

Helpful

Loved the app, but yesterday it started crashing every time I try to save info in the diary. The developers quickly updated and the problem was solved! Thank you!

Update problem?

Since the recent update, any diary entry causes the app to close suddenly. I’ve tried restarting my iPhone, but the problem is persisting.

Refund

You know that I can’t get a refund from Apple, the way you set up the App doesn’t make it eligible. And I still canceled and deleted the app with in 3 hours. You can keep the eight dollars or whatever. I hope this information is helpful to you, please DO NOT contact me if you have any other questions. Best regards BS🤬

Sorry I paid for this

Just bought this app and right off the top, the first two categories of foods are “Low FODMAP Certified Foods” and “Low FODMAP Certified Meals” which are nothing more than a list of PROCESSED GARBAGE.” very disappointed. Total waste of money.

Not USA friendly

It’s hard to find the right foods, the food names are different. The recommended products aren’t even things you see here in the US. I’m sure it’s a great app if you live somewhere else.

Not helpful

I can’t look up food while I’m grocery shopping. Anything I type I. It says it doesn’t exist. Very few recipes. I expected more from an app that costs $8.00. I wouldn’t purchase this. I’d like my money back. Not only is my gi tract irritated now.

I don’t see anywhere to scan products

I bought this app because someone mentioned scanning products but I see no where to scan products. The app feels pretty generic and you can just google stuff instead.

Not very functional. Minimal recipes. Not worth the money.

Not helpful.

A life saver

I only wish I Purchased this app sooner. It would have saved me a lot of intestinal pain. The type is difficult to read because it’s light in color and very small. They need to provide an option to adjust the font size.

Contains advertising for food prep kits.

Therefore we are better apps available .

Great App!

This app is a must for any person who has issues with certain foods, or has an IBS diagnosis. I paid for the full version and I’m very happy I did that.

Super helpful

I never spend money on apps but the FODMAP diet was too confusing and I had to go in it per doctor orders. This app helped so much in navigating the diet. There is so much different info online so having one place to go to is great. I highly recommend!

Monash FODMAP Review 1

The diary should be integrated with the food database to do personalised analysis of the effects and outcomes. The food database should be more sophisticated; i.e., deeper and broader in order to provide information about food and beverages available and consumed, and capable of gathering these data by UPC scans.

Lifesaver for IBS

My doctor recommended a low FODMAP diet and I’m so happy I found this app. Through the elimination diet phase I was able to determine I have a fructan sensitivity. Unfortunately fructans are in so many foods, I find myself using the app almost daily to look up various ingredients to see if they will bother me. I would be lost without the app’s database. I recommend it to everyone trying to figure out their food issues!

App is painful to use

Really challenging to use the app UX makes no sense :(

FODMAPs

The best go to for what and how much I can eat since I’ve had colon surgery… I am so thankful that the Monash University has done all of the research for me so my life is much easier in planning meals and how much of certain foods I can have without a bellyache! Thank you for your time and research for us Monash University!!!!

Essential for IBS

If you know a few foods that trigger you, you can quickly figure out what category they belong to and then start to eliminate foods from those categories. There are foods that I didn’t even know triggered me, but this app helped me identify them, eliminating the guessing game I’ve been going through for decades. For example, there are foods that utterly surprised me as fructans and sorbitols. This app so handy at the grocery store or dinners out at restaurants. I would now be lost without it. I think in another year or so I won’t need it anymore, as I will have my trigger foods all identified. This app truly changed my life.

too few features for $7.99

thought this would be really helpful as i'm navigating ibs/low fodmaps. but it really doesn't have a lot of features and would benefit from a more guided navigation of how to reintegrate the low fodmaps. the foods are only categorized by sorbitol/fructose/etc which can be hard to figure out which foods are what, and only has a few limited foods available for logging. it also doesn't include foods like bacon that are relevant in the fat content, for example, that i'd benefit from. not able to personalize diet triggers to the user.

Suggestion for Improvement

I am finding this app extremely useful and helpful. I would love to see a section on EXERCISE with all the various sections for Diary, Notes, Bathroom habits, etc. I’m not trying to log and record my workouts - just something simple like exercise Y/N, type (ie cardio, weights, meditation) and length of time. Would be so helpful to see this easily in my recap of the day.

Spam sellers

Rated 1 for immediately giving my email away to spammers, and for the embedded ads. For a paid app this is unacceptable.

Get it!

This app is a game changer. It is THE best resource for what foods are and aren’t low fodmap and how much you can have of each.

Love it

I’ve used originally for a sibo treatment and continue to consult it and live the diary feature

Used for Quite Some Time; Needs Sync Function

The app has a lot of good features, and is especially handy in tracking compliance with diet. Very good for associated eating behaviors with bowel issues. The huge missing piece of this app environment is syncing. The inability to have this available on a mobile device like the iPhone and also on, say, a separate device like an iPad, would be a huge benefit to users.

Wanted to support research.

Then you forced me to provide an email address, and still showed adds for meals through modify health… even the course you offer through your app is even more money…

Worst $7.99 I’ve ever spent

This app is horrible. Missing pretty basic foods. Doesn’t actually have comprehensive list of compliant brands, just pushes meal delivery services. The recipes contradict their own fodmap ratings! That’s crazy! I regret purchasing this. I have no idea how they are the world leader in the field and this was all they came up with. This information should be free anyway, so I’m doubly sick that I paid for this subpar scam of an app

Not worth it

Mostly ads and doesn’t contain many common foods.

Very limited data.

This app is very disappointing. I live in the USA and find that the majority of products I look for cannot be found. Even the most common products cannot be found. I am sorry I bought it.

Very useful

There is a bit of a learning curve to using the app, especially since I’m in the US, and some terminology is different, but not hard at all to figure out. I’m finding that foods I thought were “safe” are only safe below a certain quantity. I’m trying be be as precise as possible with the elimination phase, so I’m really having to measure and weigh a lot. I really like the diary, easy to use and I will be able to send to my dietitian. Two suggestions: for bowel movement tracking, it would be useful to track amount as well as type. Also, could you add a tracker for water? The amount of water you are drinking or not drinking could play a role in GI symptoms. Right now I’m just adding to notes. Those two additions would make this a 5 star app, IMHO.

Uselessly Limited Food Guide

Food guide answers only the most basic of broad foods. No data on common brands and foods. Much better to just google and add FODMAP to the end. Deleted and requested refund the first day.

Buttons don't work

I have tried to submit feedback but that button doesn't work. I was trying to submit feedback about how when I want to download or send my diary the send button doesn't work either. Seems like this app is buggy and no one is fixing it. I want to like it but it's hard when the features I need don't work

Really awkward filters and displays make this difficult to use

Can’t really sort or filter foods the way you would expect to be possible. For example, filter low FODMAP fruits, let alone by sorbitols or fructans. Nor sort by lowest or highest fodmaps. Nor show me all the The information is also displayed by different categories of servings that you will need to manually translate to your own experience. There is no FODMAP amount to gram of food ratio, for example. There is only “high” or “medium” or “low” FODMAP for “moderate” serving (x grams) so you have no idea if a portion between low to moderate is ok.

Great, if a little limited

I’ve been using this app for several years, and I typically refer to it at least once or twice a day. Whether I’m in the grocery store or in a restaurant, this app helps me manage my food sensitivities. There are times when I feel frustrated, because I can’t find a food that’s commonly available in the US. I wonder whether the app could be updated periodically.

The Authority

The largest collection of foods' FODMAP ratings available. Simple and easy to use. Also the staff at Monash University are very accessible and easy to talk to if you have any questions about food ingredients and ratings. The app has lots of additional features like online courses, etc., that I have not even explored.

Great app

Most accurate FODMAP out there and explains some symptoms I was having when following other apps. It is nice that the app is getting better all the time. Only suggestion is to keep adding US products so I can recommend it to more paying customers in the US!

Contradictory

I paid for this app because I figured that information coming from the source would be the most accurate. The app is very contradictory of what is low fodmap and what is not. In the pamphlets there are fruits and veggies they are safe to eat and in the food guides they say that they aren't. Overall I think it is useful but they need to cross check their information

A Godsend!!!

This is a great app. I now know why I had all sorts of stomach pains and issues when I was a child. My doctor told me about FODMAP diet after another bout of stomach issues. I took a little while to research some apps, and this one seems to be the best. Easy to use and I really am grateful for all of research and data.

Not worth the price

There is nothing on this app that isn’t readily available online for free already. I was hoping the price would grant me access to a ton of recipes , but 10 breakfasts , 22 mains are slim pickings.

Has changed my life!!!

I have my life back. No longer spending my life in “my office” (aka bathroom). I love how they are always updating, testing and adding foods. The original FODMAP diet my Doctor gave me was so limiting. I can now have things I couldn’t before in limited quantities. Get it! Best money I’ve spent in years!

Useless if You Live in the U.S.

I spent the $8 on this app, because it comes highly recommended by dieticians and gastroenterologists for patients with IBS, who need some help following the fodmap diet, which can be tricky, especially for beginners. This app is a total waste of time and money. I thought I could look up common U.S. food items, and I found stuff that I’ve never even heard of before. With some of the food items, you can’t change the serving size to see how the amounts of the different fodmaps change. It also doesn’t have a barcode scanner, so that you can go to the store and scan the barcodes of foods you may want to eat, and check out the fodmaps in them, and create a library of your foods and do meal planning. This app needs way more work before it’s worth anyone’s time or money.

Hate this app

Almost everything about this app is frustrating. Waste of money. Wish they had a trial but instead I threw $8 in the trash.

If you’re color blind - change the accessibility settings

All the scores use red and green traffic lights as icons. I couldn’t tell the difference until I changed the settings. Once I did I could access this amazingly thorough library. Very pleased.

Search is Mediocre/Incomplete

Heres the problem with this app, you type in “risotto” and there are two results, both for meals provided by food delivery services, one in the UK and one in Aus (despite me selecting US as my region). Type in “arborio” and you will find what you need. Similarly, if you type in “almond” raw almonds are fourth on the list, underneath almond meal, almond milk, and almond butter and above specific montash certified products. It also seems like a lot of foods are missing, especially common ingredients in packaged foods. Still probably the best app out there, and good when paired with the fig app (if the fig app lights up a product red, check this app for quantities as it may be in a small enough quantity to be ok) Super annoying that you need to pay for two apps to reasonably see what you can and can’t eat, but it has done wonders for my ibs.

LIFESAVER

It’s very easy to use and does really help make me feel better by reducing amounts of food that I consume plus eliminate the things that irritate. Thanks to all those who work so hard to figure all this out for us IBS suffers.

Crucial for lowFODMAP

I really stuggled wih trying the lowFODMAP diet to find GI triggers, until I found this app. It made it much easier to look up things that were "safe" and also helped me with reintroduction. I highly recommend this app!

What did I just pay 7 bucks for

My ND suggested this diet as a means of healing my gut so we can figure out if I have a food allergy. The organization that wrote this app seems to be the respected authority on the subject so I felt like the $7 would be well spent. I was wrong. The info in the booklet isn't anything you can't find on the internet or read on their website. Same with the recipes, only none of these look very appetizing and the typos and missing instructions are annoying. Also the food list is lame. I mean gee thanks for letting me know there are like 4 things I can buy. I appreciate the research to no end, but this app isn't worth $7

Fantastic app, critical to success

I’ve been on the low fodmap diet for 5 years now (not by choice) and I still use the app daily. Thanks to it’s automatic updates, the information is always correct. For me, personally, it has always been spot-on with what my body will tolerate. Because it’s used internationally, some local foods aren’t listed. But they continue to expand the content. It’s been critical to me following the low FODMAP diet well.
