Monash University FODMAP diet App Reviews

Very helpful app

I news it to determine what foods are safe to eat and how much. I hope monash university reads user reviews because the guide can be improved. 1) There are so many fruits and vegetables NOT included in this app. Please consider increasing the number of foods to include a wider selection of safe/unsafe foods.

Just downloaded it and already frozen

Just downloaded this app this afternoon for $10!!! And its stuck!! Not happy. Would be happy if it worked.

Great app

Very useful. But crashes sometimes

Fodmap

I found this app to be Kim d of disappointing as it was recommended from a fodmap diet book. However none of the recipes are there from the book. As there are so few recipes in the app I have to add every recipe individually, which is a pain. Unfortunately I spent a lot of money on this app and really all it is is a list of foods to eat and foods to avoid.

Needs improvement

Search feature isnt working well and it is the only feature I use. It usually pulls up a list of totally unrelated items and I have to search for the one I am looking for. For example, I searched specifically for kale and had to scroll thru two pages of cheese items?? Cabbage also brings up salmon, sardines, etc.?? Once I find the items, it clearly shows if the food is OK using red green or yellow lights. Im only using this app to help me identify low fructose foods when Im shopping. Maybe better for FODMAP dieters. Not great value for your $$, expensive app.

Too expensive

Very little information for a $10.99 app. No more information than a quick good search will find you. Very limited recipes for price of app. I would like my money back if it were possible

Very useful and well-designed!

Extremely well made, very practical and useful.

Good, but just a start

Good so far; has lots of foods, but there could be more. Im in the US. Im hoping more food will be added as time goes on. It would be nice if you could add your own food, as well as set up your own green light system for all the food listed. I have IBS, so all dairy is off limits, and I would like to filter it all instead of just high lactose dairy. Also, the diary should have full customization abilities. We should be able to put down any recipe or meal we eat instead of the pre-loaded ones. I have a different budget & different tastebuds than whats in these recipes.

Helpful reference

As I have been trying to work the FODMAP diet into my life, I have found this app helpful, but it has some lacking functionality. Specifically, the food diary requires you to eat only the recipes they have in the app. I dont want to just eat your recipes, let me make my own out of the ingredients in the database. Without this feature, the food diary and challenge features are useless to me. I will say the app has a ton of great information and has really helped me understand what I can and cannot eat and also how much of things is Ok. Please keep up the good work and keep improving the app.

I was hoping for more

I will be requesting a refund as I dont feel this app is worth the cost. I was hoping for more detailed information such as product names, etc

Amazing App!!

The low FODMAP diet SAVED my stomach and I cannot thank the researchers at Monash University enough for the work they have done!!! This app is a huge help when grocery shopping. I live in the US and works just fine and it is cool to see different names for some of the foods. I never go shopping without it!

Conflicts w/ book

Dont waste your money.

Not enough list

This is a very pricy app so I expect to see more extensive food list on this app otherwise I can just go to free website and look at the low fodmap food there. Another thing that is not practical is you limit everything in one portion like sugar is safe for 1 table spoon. Its better if you show the ceiling limit. Even though I want money back as I find its not worth purchasing this app at this moment but Im hoping for the outlook and more research on more food.

Never Updates

This could easily be a 5 star ap. It really helps to have something that instantly tells you if the food is good for you or not (in terms of FODMAP sensitivities) whether you are on internet or not. The only reason why it is not a 5 star is that Monash never ever updates the foods on the list. This is weird because they are always testing new foods and retesting old ones. It is a relatively pricey AP, but no updates? What gives?

Limited information

Looking up American foods is challenging. They call cookies and crackers biscuits, and so many foods are left out, so you dont know if they are good or bad. Bottom line, WAY TOO MUCH to pay for an app that is only a fraction of help.

Helpful

While it isn’t comprehensive, I find the list of foods very helpful. I especially like that it gives you permitted amounts.

Not enough content

Does not give you enough information to determine if ingredients in food items are FODMAP compliant. For example, my whole grain gluten free bread contains teff, sorghum, baking soda, etc. when the ingredients are not available per this app then you cannot determine. So, while it is useful, I feel it is of limited use.

Need an Account Settings

There really needs t be a way to track your diet on multiple devices.

Solid app

I use this app multiple times every day. Even though its not the most comprehensive, it helps cover most basic and intermediate knowledge. The recipe suggestions are helpful, and Im still reading through the provided guide. The cost is large for an app, but its less than half the cost of most diet books - and its searchable and contains a handy shopping list. Highly recommended.

Support

Im buying the app to help support research and education. Keep the app updates coming to reflect your most current work!
