Monash University FODMAP diet App Reviews

Somewhat helpful

I agree that Australian jargon makes this app challenging for American user. I found the app useful to some extend. It does help to have a list of foods for cooking from scratch handy. I didnt like the diary because it offered only a pre-set list of symptoms...some of mine were omitted. Besides having the menu to choose from may be helpful for some, but for those of us who dont have a personal chef it is annoying....I had to type my meals in.

A no go

This was definitely not worth it ! Even general things like flour that I wanted to search were not there...very disappointed

Needs more food listings

This app is very informative about low FODMAPS but the food list is very limited. Would be nice to have updates with more simple foods.

Okay okay

Okay its okay I cant set my sensitivities I cant have a drop of dairy any dairy on top of the fodmap diet I think my dr is trying to starve me The recipes are well I dont have time to make a lunch like that I have time to make a simple sandwich But if you wanna look up a food this app will work I dont think its for me waisted my money

Needs improvement

This app is very elementary. Easy to pull up on phone while grocery shopping or eating out but not a very extensive list. Also since it did not originate in the U.S. many of the foods are unfamiliar. Keeping the diary is not user friendly either

Lifesaver

This is a very informative data-based resource that gas helped me tremendously. Especially useful when traveling. The app could do more but it is well designed. I particularly like the portion-based traffic light rating system.

Thankyou

Best tool for safe foods and serving sizes but I do wish the update for iPhone would come already. Most of the negative reviews are from people who do not understand how to use the app. For example its not going to list proteins because they are a not a fodmap. They are only carbs. It only list items that Have been tested and is increasing all the time

Love the app

This is a base line and you have to do your own work to see you tolerances but it gives you a good guide and it a tremendous help!!

fodmapper

This is the best app available so far to identify problematic foods. Its pretty easy to Google unfamiliar Australian terms and learn the American term

worth the money!

I used this app during the elimination phase/challenge phase of the low-FODMAP diet. A year later I STILL refer to it. It is easy to use. Imagine walking through the grocery store and looking at labels— it is SO frustrating to have to guess. Now you can just open the app and type in the food/ingredient to search. The traffic light system makes it easy to see which how damaging that food could be for each individual.

A handy reference

I use this while grocery shopping and also when trying to figure out what food may have caused a flare. It helps to keep me focused on eating the right foods.

INCREDIBLE

This app is magnificent. It has saved me so much money, stress, and time. It makes food shopping and going out to eat INFINITELY easier. I cant say enough good about it!

love this app

This app has saved my life! No doctor or nutritionist has ever taught me the intricacies of how to eat for my ibs. This app uses an easy to understand traffic light system and serving sizes to guide meal planning. It explains why certain carbs and sugars are indigestible and how to manage that. I love the shopping list! I gave it four stars because I wish that more timely updates would be done for iOS users. Get this app!

Seriously?!

This app doesnt list anything of value that your GI doesnt inform you of. You can find the complete list online. The app is missing so much! Very disappointed.

Hugely Helpful!!!

This app is well organized. Since I am a visual learner, the color coding really helps me remember what to stay away from. The filtering options was a good surprise and even helped confirm some of my "suspect" foods. I look forward to updates and will keep using this app. The discovery of eating low FODMAP has been a life saver for me! Thanks Monash U!!!!!!

Very nice update, makes app more internationally useful

The previous version was helpful, but had only a limited set of foods listed in the Guide. The foods added in this update (as well as the visual overhaul of the whole app) are much appreciated.

Good reference tool

Good basic reference tool that comes in handy to check specific foods. The lists differ slightly from the Stanford University FODMAP list, which creates a little apprehension. International focus seems like a good idea, especially for us in California where there is so much food from other countries. One note for the developers: paw paw is NOT papaya. Papaya is a tropical fruit, paw paw is an American native fruit.

Update = FAIL

I love this app and using it has been very helpful for my diet. However, the latest update is a huge step backward. The app now requires a working network connection before it will load the food guide, whereas the previous version did not require a network. Now, if you dont have a good network connection, the app will just freeze up. This is a huge FAIL for app architecture, especially considering how useful this app is (or was…) when traveling and needing to look up foods not normally part of your diet. Except that now, if youre out of network or otherwise dont have good mobile data service, the app is useless. This is a huge disappointment considering that the app used to work all the time. I suggest not purchasing or updating this app until theyve fixed this bug.

Its just alright

Not very many things in the database. It would be great if there were actual brands - like Tapatio hot sauce. Maybe Ill create that app and compete.

Frequent crashes

This app has a great deal of information on it – making the cost worth it to me. But I have a hard time using it because it crashes VERY frequently. The apps support here leads nowhere and I dont know how to get help. If there is any to be had…
